Has anyone implemented the streaming music function? I would like to stream from an online server as a test and then setup a local streaming server for assured music quality and continuity.

I was wondering if asx would work?

I think you misunderstood the concept of music streaming in 5.1.
The feature allows you to select a wave file and have it behave as though it is streaming.
The benefit is that a customer doesn't hear the music restart after every announcement.
Also, you can have a music streaming globally across calls, radio like, but it has to be a static wave file.

Sorry i should of been more specific.

The shoretel guy who was down here said we could stream the music from a source into our call center server. He never explained how to do it and so far has not responded to my emails. I have my local VAR beating the bushes right now.

Its apparently a new feature in the newest call center version.

As Gulu said, the streaming is internal only. It is still using a local wave file, it just handles it in a way that to the caller sounds like a stream.

When you set it up under System->Music Streams, you choose a Name and Wave file path, and a type.

        These are the types:
System-Wide: The audio stream is continuous. When callers enter the queue, they hear the audio at that position in time.

Per-Call: The audio stream starts from the beginning for each call in queue, and then plays continuously. A caller hears the audio from the beginning when they first enter the queue; if they reenter the queue they hear the audio at that position in time.

Per-Caller: The audio stream starts from the beginning for each call in the queue, and then pauses when the call leaves the queue. A caller hears the audio from the beginning when they first enter the queue; if they reenter the queue they hear the audio at the point where they left off.

Play Prompt: The audio stream starts from the beginning for each call in the queue. A caller hears the audio from the beginning when they first enter the queue; if they reenter the queue they hear the audio from the beginning again.
