  • Ascom i75 issues with registering as a SIP extension

    Hi

I've got an Ascom i75 (Messenger version) on loan for trial and I have an issue with registering it as a SIP extension. As an off system extension in a dynamic SIP trunk it works fine (very well in fact), but when configured as a SIP extension the ShoreTel switch SIP proxy returns "500 Server Internal Error".

The same credentials etc work fine with both X-Lite and a Polycom 8002.

I've attached a sip_debug_level=2 log from during the REGISTER from the SIP proxy switch.

Any ideas? Anywhere else I can look for more debug information?

    ShoreTel Version 8.1 - 13.23.4801.0
    i75 firmware - 1.6.16

username password error. 780 is the username? What is the password? And you have it set to register to the sip proxy?

Yes 780 is the extension. If I change the password on the phone so that it is wrong then ShoreTel responds with another Unauthorized response to the REGISTER request instead of the "500 Server Internal Error".

I got a "TPP APP NOTE" that says for the version of ShoreTel we are using (8.1) "Note: build 13.23.6912.0 or higher required". We are only running 13.23.4801.0, so I'm assuming that is the issue.

We are testing the device as an off system extension in a dynamic SIP trunk (and using external reassign to assign it to the user's normal extension) and will upgrade to a newer version of ShoreTel before actually implementing the phones.

It also talks about needing a basically dedicated switch in its own site for the phones to use (so the SIP Proxy and call manager switch are the same or something). Don't know if that is still required (the firmware on the phone is 6 months newer than the app note), although our other SIP phones show up as allocated to the SIP Proxy switch anyway.
