  • IM Logging in shoretel connect

We just recently completed our upgrade to Shoretel Connect. In 14.2 it was possible to log IM conversations in the client by pointing a setting to a UNC path. You could do it from the client itself, or via a registry key. From the looks of things, there is no longer an option in the Shoretel connect client to save logs to a path and event with the registry keys present, the logs are no longer saved to the UNC path as they were previously. I also don't see any mention of saving IM logs in the SA-100 planning guides for connect either, and the only other guides reference saving IM logs reference the old setting from 14.2 that is no longer present in connect, or the reg key that no longer appears to work.

How can IM logs be preserved in connect?

Mike, he specifically mentioned that he is using Connect and not 14.2 or older.

Well, I don't have an answer regarding built-in logging. Keep in mind that the Connect client is a complete rewrite and the logging was client-side before, so things have definitely changed. As far as I can see, there is no longer any support for logging chats at this time. I'd love to be proven wrong, but I don't see it.

We've noticed the same thing and a poor rewrite at that. A fair amount of lost functionality and flexibility in Connect.

            Same here. I wonder why.

We're having similar issues. I have a laundry list of missing or non-functioning options since our upgrade 2 days ago. I can only hope Shoretel is listening and working on fixing these.

I know this is kinda an old thread but we have run into the same issue. for compliance we need to be able to centrally log IM communication however that does not seem possible in connect so we had to turn the feature off which my user base was not happy about because it was a feature they used quite a bit seems like its something Huge Shoretel missed and I am sure there are alot of people in the same situation that need to be able to track IM.

Lloyd - what sort of stuff are you missing/non-functioning? I'm getting to the point where i'm going to have to upgrade to connect (on 14.2 currently) - due to the repeated TAC fix of "upgrade" and would like to understand what I'm going to be getting into.
