  • easier park and ring again

I am migrating (for the past 3 years) from a Nortel Meridian pbx network.
2 features that I still like on Nortel pbx....

    1- better "Park"
I press a Park button on my digital set, and display shows
me a 2 digit extension that will hold the call,
I press park again, and its out there.
Another user simply dials the 2 digit ext, and they have the call.
I figured that i could do this maybe with some "Ext Only" phones,
but I dont like the idea of buying a lic just for this feature.

    2- "Ring Again"
If I call some one int or ext, if I get a normal Busy, then I can press
a Ring Again button. pbx will ring my phone when they are back on-hook.
If I pick up, the pbx connects call. kind of an easy auto-redial.

I miss what you call the "Ring Again" feature. It was called Camp on our old system (I imagine the system camping out on that user's line until it was free, then it would call me! lol) I haven't found it on our Shoretel, if its there.

We are migrating over time as well, and I know what you mean about features that you are used to that you may have lost or at least had to change a process. As far as the 'better park', couldn't you just park it on the extension that is going to answer it? Or another way would be to just put it on hold on the initial answering station and then 'unpark' it from the second station.

I would think the auto call back or ring again feature would be easy enough to add since the system is already 'presence' aware. I do not know from experience yet but I have been told ShoreTel is good at taking feedback and potentially adding functionality.

As Chris mentioned, Camp On is on the Roadmap, and it got great recpetion from dealers when they announced this @ the last partners conference, so it's safe to say, it's coming.

As far as the park issue. I always tell people to Park @ the extension of the person that's going to pick up the call. If you do this, the call will appear on there phone (on hold), but will not ring there. They can just hit the line to pick it up, or they can go to any phone and pick it up. 2 buttons or 4 buttons...it's just buttons. When Shoretel figures out how to do things telepathically, maybe life will be easier.

Is that an 8.0 feature? I can't wait!
