Shoretel's options of getting the Instant Messaging running within the PCM is very limited.
A. Going the Converged Conferencing route costs a minimum of $10,000 to setup.
B. For non MS Office shops, setting up OCS 2007 for just Shoretel IM is a bit of an overkill.
Why not support an open standard, such as XMPP?
From the XMPP.org:
"XMPP is the Extensible Messaging and Presence Protocol, a set of open technologies for instant messaging, presence, multi-party chat, voice and video calls, collaboration, lightweight middleware, content syndication, and generalized routing of XML data."
