In our environment we have a hard time maintaining our user accounts usernames, client passwords, and email addresses in the shoretel database. I am currently exploring the idea of linking it to our Active Directory Services and have the authentication happen on the Domain Controllers. I think it would be to Shoretel's benefit to put an option in the director interface to connect some fields to an LDAP server for these authentication requests instead of using a seperate database where everyone in the company has to remember yet another username and password that they usually forget and cannot change without bothering the helpdesk.
