  • Need More Daily Schedule Options

By the way, does anyone at ShoreTel actually read these enhancement requests, or is this just an exercise for our own entertainment? Just wondering...

We would like the custom schedules to have the "option" of being setup using the same method as the on-hours schedules, with recurring days of week and times of day, rather than just specific dates and times.

This would allow us to have a 3rd option every day (On-Hours, Off-Hours, Custom) for our AA's, Workgroups, etc.

Case in point: We currently have AA's that have an on-hours and off-hours script, but we need to add a 3rd time-frame (every day) with a different recording and menu options. It's no big deal to do this for a single AA just by adding another AA in front of it, but we have 11 sites each with their own AA with different destinations, which means a lot more work.

Additionally, it would be nice to have the ability to add more schedules to AA's, Workgroups, Route Points, etc. By that, I mean that we want the AA or Workgroup to have more than just On-Hours, Off-Hours, Holiday, and Custom settings.

Perhaps have a Custom1, Custom2, Custom3, etc schedule, with each taking precedence over the next since schedules could overlap (unintentionally or intentionally).

I do hope that is not the case. Good idea, though.

I do the double layer menus as well.

It would be nice to be able to use any schedule for any option (create a schedule following the "all day" rules of Holiday, the "a few hours on a specific day" of Custom or "repeated" schedule of On-Hours) and use it for any of the three schedules. I would use "custom" type schedules for the "holiday" option (then we could close at noon and still play a greeting labeled "holiday").

For sites that close for lunch I could use the "custom" option and an on-hours schedule. Currently I am handling that with a second level menu or playing the "night" message during lunch. For sites that migrated from a system that had a "lunch" menu they don't want the night message playing at lunch. They want something like "We are closed for lunch and will reopen at 1PM."

As the administrator/programmer I understand how the menus work ... but end users are usually confused when they are told to record a "custom" message when closed for a holiday (so it can be used for half days) when there is a "holiday" message choice. They also are confused when they have to record "on-hours for menu 1234" for their lunch message and "on-hours for menu 1235" for their open message (plus off-hours of menu 1235 for when they are closed and do not record off-hours of 1234!) They often record the wrong menu.
