  • AA to leaving a message

    I have a simple question,

when a call gets to Auto Attendant, they listen to the spiel, and are told to stay on the line to leave a message in the General Mailbox, what is the best way to send that to a GM?

I would like the Leave a Message in MB to go straight to the MB with no greeting being played.

    Here would be my suggestion.

Create a VM box. In the AA menu, direct the time out option to goto the VM Box you designate. As far as "no greeting" being playes, I don;t think this is possible, but could you do a short greeting like 'Leave a message at the beep'???

      Easy,

Open up Sound Recorder ("sndrec32" from run box) in windows then click File > Save As > Click Change at the bottom

      Change Format to CCITT u-Law
Change Attributes to 8.000 KHz, 8 bit, Mono 7kb/s

      Then save it

now upload this file to the AA in question.

      Save in Director then

Change the timeout to 0 msecs

and add the Mailbox in the timeout option.

        and this would do what?
I gather it would create a silence then timeout.
I want a regular autoattendant greeting with a timeout directly to RECORDING into a mailbox - bypassing the mailbox greeting.

Ok now that we're back I can better elaborate.

With a "General Mailbox" you have to create a user set as a mailbox only, which would use a mailbox license. I have had problems with the that Mailbox lighting a light and being able to be accessed with one button. So I set up message forwarding and delete. Now I have problems with other people accessing it, So I set up a WG assign members, enable mailbox and FWD message to that. That seems to work OK. So when V7.1 or 8.1 comes out will the Agent license be an issue?
Ideally I would love to send it to a cascading Mailbox (heard it is coming out) which, hopefully, won't eat a license. And be able to send it without a greeting (but still have a real greeting there in case someone gets there via a different route)
