We have version 13.9.1111 (Call Manager) which is an early beta version of 8 running on our win 2008 Terminal Server. I don't think anybody uses it, as it's a test server, but I just made a call from it and it worked. I would think a general release version would work better.

Your post is pretty old (2006) but I need to know if the PCM is going to work on Terminal Server 2008.

Since this post have you had great success with 2008 and PCM?

    Please let the forum know.

    Thank you!

I'll be finally getting ST8 set up for good at our office in about a week (hopefully), I'll try that out and post the results. I would guess that it's not going to work, but we'll see.

So, if the "Prevent Users from Initiating Client Upgrades" box is checked in Shorware Director, will a 7.5 (or 7.0) CM client be able to function at all with the 8.0 server? This question was never completely answered.

    Thanks,
    Gary

The "Upgrade Needed" message can be supressed if you go into SWD under IP Phones -> Options and tick Prevent User Initiated Client Upgrade or something similar. This is the recommended setting in a managed deployment so you don't get users upgrading over top of your pushed install.

If you also sent an email to all your users saying that if PCM doesn't work reboot, you might be OK.

This is the way I do it (AD GPO Push) and it works like a champ. The only issue I have is that I have to get the clients to reboot for the GPO to apply and some may still get the 'Upgrade Needed" message at login.

It is -possible- to push the call manager to all of the workstations if it's an AD environment. Check out the desktop installation section of the planning and installation guide. It also tells you to see the Microsoft KB article #816102
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816102 for using group policy to install software on client machines. I've never done it this way but it seems like it -could- make life a little easier.

The 7.5 call manager will prompt the user to upgrade if connecting to a ShoreTel 8 server.

how about the other direction... did they decide to allow the 7.5 version to connect to a st8 server this time? That is a huge deal for me.... getting all 200 or so clients upgraded basically at once is a huge pain in the rear

I can confirm that without a doubt.. lol.. We're waiting on getting a new server before setting up ST8 but I wanted to look at call manager so I installed it on my PC at work.. It opened and then immediately closed and said that the server needed to be upgraded and after hitting "ok" it went in to an endless loop of opening, closing & popping up the message about upgrading.

Video isn't done through OCS/LCS.... it is directly performed by Shoretel. They will likely add point to multipoint in the future.
