I felt a little giddy doing this. To all those people that have not had the oppurtunity to experience ST8 Personal Call Manager Version 3, let me tell you...it's awesome.
I do want to add that it also has it's drawbacks, mainly the memory usage required to run it (about 55k to 100k for PCM3 Professional). Obviously, if you have older machines, then moving to ST8 may be a small challenge.
So this brings me to Windows Server 2008 terminal services. I have a test server that was already loaded, so I went ahead and installed PCM3 on it, and published the app through windows. Let me tell you what...IT WORKS!!!
to me, this is huge!!! terminal service published apps can be internal or external (Internet), and allowing users to access PCM without logging into a server means they could be anywhere and use it. Currently, only Citrix supports this, but now you don't need Citrix!
I have not tested Video, or OCS 2007 in this configuration yet. It also appears that PCM takes up to 6-7mb LESS (59mb instead of 66mb) when running in Published app mode. Not sure why, but that is good.
Cool!
