  • Telco cable pin-out problem

I deployed a Shoregear 90 a few weeks ago. This system needed two analog ports--one for a fax machine, and another for a credit card machine. I configured the two analog ports on the SG-90 to use ports 11 & 12. I used a 5 foot 50-pin telco cable with male->female amphenol connectors on the ends (purchased from Graybar) and connected it to a Leviton voice-grade patch panel (part # 49012-J24). Rather than getting dial tone on ports 11 & 12 of the patch panel, I'm instead getting dial tones on ports 21 & 23 of the patch panel. Does anyone know where I went wrong? Was it the patch panel or the cable? Thanks in advance for your help.

Nevermind........I found my answer in the Planning and Installation Guide. I should have looked at this in the first place. In the back of the guide in appendix c (page C-16 of the ShoreTel 7.5 PIG), it shows the RJ-21X pinout for ShoreGear-12 switches. If I was using a ShoreGear-24 switch, the ports would have corresponded with each other like I had assumed in the first place.

Much easier to use panels designed for each switch type this way port 11 in the software drop down is port 11 on the panel and not 21on a standard punched panel.
        shoretel patch panel - http://www.dealonvoip.com/accessories.html - $79
