  • Blocking incoming calls/

Anyone know if there is a way to block specific incoming calls. Customer has analog trunks and they want to put the fax machine on the system as a extension and either do the fax redirect or put the fax in its own trunk group.
Either way is there a way to block particular #'s from calling the fax machine.

    Thanks

We tried to do something similar to this as well, I spoke to my ShoreTel vendor and they told me there was no way to do it within the ShoreTel system, but it was something I could try to pursue with my telecommunications vendor. We are still running 6.1 though so I dont know if this in an option in later releases.

We are running 7.5 and I don't see anything that would remotly get us to that point. But this will be good to post in the ShoreTel wish list.

there is a SDK that does just that. It will block all calls from a particular number. It's designed for faxes (to block spam faxes), but it will work other ways as well. It operates at the TRUNK level.

Sorry though, I don't have access to it, but I know somebody who does

I forgot to add it here. I have it in one of my many email accounts. I'll fish it out and host it.

                      Why not?

Any legacy system can perform this function. My wife can never remember my extension so in the past I had her cell phone and the home number directed to ring at my desk. Now we have a PRI and I put my DID on her speed dial.

We have customers that are a PITA that we directed to a service MB. No Caller ID, they went to a message only MB telling them to unblock and call back.

This ain't brain surgery. ST lagged on and on before giving us HOT DIAL in ST8. We lost so many deals because of that one feature not being there.

I would wager that if we wanted to pony up the money that Professional Services could do it in days. This is a simple request we have asked for for close to two years.

It is the small things and commonplace things that count and there seems to be little effort to those.

We lost a deal to a Samsung because an insurance agency wanted to have major client sent to the correct account rep. We could not do it. We tried the DID thing and they saw additional cost.

                            Thanks,

you might want to fix the links as the "slashes" go the wrong way for any browser other than IE.
