  • ShoreTel Conf Phone IP8000

Well I have asked help from my ShoreTel help provider but it is taking them days to respond. Maybe someone can help here.

We got the ShoreTel Conf phone to try out. The only problem is that i can only get 2 callers on the line and then it says "maximum calls reached". I have the trunk set to 5 calls. I only have one SIP. We have enough Conf ports and a conf call with 5 other people works on my 560. I setup the phone with the exact steps of the instructions (which was hell).

    Any help would be great.

The thing to remember here, is that the Conference phone is a SIP device connected to a SIP Trunk. Not all features carry over. I believe a 3 or 4 way call is the maximum, but I am not sure.

Now if Shoretel supported Sip Extensions, then that would probably fix the issue.

My magic "9" ball says: It is in the works.

Max of 3 calls with SIP Trunking support. Now wouldn't that be neat if they did

I am confused. I can call 2 phones on my IP8000 but not a third? I am having the same issue but I do not understand.

ha good luck. We ended up just using it as 2 calls at a time. If we need more we add more people on a single call we either add another internal phone to add more people or call a 800 number.

the IP 8000 can only carry a confernce of 3 people. That is 1 "Originator" + 2 "Conferencee's" It is no different then an IP 560 making a 3 way conf 1 + 2 its a limitation of Phone Hardware (Aka DSP)

Since the IP 8000 is SIP it cannot utilise the DSP as a basic IP phone can, they are virtual trunks and do not use DSP.

The conference algorithm is no different then the IP base phones for example:
if you have Make me confernse set to 6 in the User Group COS and have 6 ports set on the SG for confernce!
1 users can confernce in 5 people for a total of 6

Further the IP Phones will confernce as the IP 8000 3, that is 1+3 as described above.

If your not able to get three People (1 + 2) on the conf call with the IP 8000
              check the following

1: Latest Version of IP8000 firmware is up to date
2: that you followed the App note to the letter with out deviating at all
3: That you have only "TWO individual trunks enabled for each IP 8000 Phone

              Reiterate on 3
You need 1 Trunk Group with two individual SIP trunks per IP 8000

                It works for me...........

Point is to dial phone numbers from ShoreTell Call Manager and not from the IP8000 and it works.
If you dial phone numbers from IP8000 then you can have 3 max but if you dial them from call manager you can have 6 persons.
Make sure that you have PC with the Call Manager and IP8000 at the same place because it is a little tricky. When you dial number on the Call Manager you will have to hit a button on IP8000 to make this call actually happen and then keep adding people to your conference call from Call Manager (and you have to hit a button on IP8000).

                Good luck.

I had to have 2 SIP trunks to a SIP conference phone.

Now that SIP extensions are available, are 2 still needed?

No, a single SIP extension should be sufficient.
