  • How to obtain the needed ip's?

Ok, so our current network has a single DHCP class A 10. range. We are using about 160 ip's already and need to add our shoretel which needs about 100 ip's. What is the best way to gain the needed ip's?

    Thanks in advance,

Is creating a second DHCP scope with the 192. range and second nic to the new poe switch and use dhcp relay?

Ok so we have three Dell POE 3448 models for each floor and one HP 2810 24 port for the top level switch. I was told this will not work that I need a layer 3 top level switch is that really needed and if so what switch would you suggest?

        Thanks in advance

I just bought a complete new infrastructure from Extreme networks, and thus far I am more than pleased. I have always been a cisco guy, with some HP thrown for fun, but the extreme networks gear really impressed me.

You will need a layer 3 switch or a router to accomplish inter-vlan routing. You could do this with a Procurve 2626 which is about $500 (non-poe version). The preferable way is to use a layer 3 switch versus a router.

Thanks, I finally got ahold of the Shoretlel ST-0131 document and it breaks it down for me. We are looking at getting a Cisco 3560 to be our top level layer 3 switch.

              Thanks in advance

Given that you already have HP on your network, why would you not go with a 2600 series switch or 3500 series?
