  • Voice Mail Integration with Outlook

    Can anybody shed any light on this problem that I am experiencing.

    On some XP machines when trying to install Voice Mail Integration with Outlook. (Load PCM, then choose Options - Configure Shoretel System - Outlook - Voicemail) I get the following error. "An error has occurred while installing Shoreware Voicemail for Microsoft Outlook. Please make sure that Outlook is in the Corporate Workgroup Mode and has been configured. Also, please ensure that Outlook is the default client for mail on this machine."

    I am running Outlook 2003 which by default is set to Corporate not Internet and it is the default client. Exchange is also present within the Network.

    I have eliminated the User profile as the cause and Reloaded / Repaired Office. The PC's in question are no more than 3 months old and upto day with all patches for both XP and Office.

    This happened on ShoreWare 6.1 (latest Version), so I upgraded to 7.5 and still the problem persists. Short of rebuilding the PC with XP, Office, and PCM which seems a little extreme I not sure what else to do.

    Any sensible advice would be apprieciated.

    Thanks

    Craig

    You upgraded to 7.0 or 7.5? 7.5 is still in Beta.

    Honestly though, I haven't run into that error yet.

        Outlook integration

        Found the problem. Small typo in the PCM for 7.5. Will be fixed in next release. You will need to amend the VMailfrm file in Notepad and remove the "o" in the [Platform.NTx86] area. There are two entries. Be careful and then save file. Go to Intall within PCM and everything works.

        Thanks for you guys who posted possible answers.

          Craig, since you've found a solution to your issue, I hope you don't mind me stealing your thread.

          I'm getting the same error on a particular machine attempting to install Outlook Voice Mail Integration. I uninstalled the application because it was refusing to send forwarded vmails within Outlook. They were stuck in the Outgoing box. So, in attempting to re-install, I'm continually getting this error despite resetting the Outlook profile, restarting many times, re-installing Shortel, installing CDO (even though I'm not sure I need it), pulling hair, and banging the keyboard. I suspect that it's not Shoretel specifically, but some component it's using.

          If anyone can suggest something else to try, I would appreciate it.

          • Shoretel 7
          • Outlook 2007

          Thanks in advance for your help,

            Outbox

            Messages being "stuck" in the outbox of 2007 is a known bug. The messages do actually go out, they just never get removed from the outbox. This happens on every one of our boxes.

            I have not heard an ETA on the fix, but suspect it wont be until 8.

            it is listed in the bug list of each release I believe.

              Logs

              Is there anything in the event logs about the installation? Can you post any of the errors and or the logs themselves... evt format.

                Hi, thanks for replying.

                There wasn't anything in any of the event logs to indicate any failures. If you'd like to see a specific log, let me know which one.

                The outbox had other Outlook email messages stuck in it as well, and the "Send/Receive" had hung on the "ShoreWare Voicemail" component. Doing a send/receive only on Exchange didn't work, it still tried to connect to "ShoreWare Voicemail". I exited Outlook and restarted it, and was able to send/receive only to Exchange. This left only the vmails in the Outbox. My (apparently incorrect) assumption was that uninstalling/reinstalling would correct that issue. It's the reinstalling part that's failing.

                fwiw, the "ShoreWare Voicemail" shows up in the list of available email services in Outlook when adding a new account, but the menu items and vmail 'messages' in the inbox are not shown.

                I know very little about the Shoretel software, so your help is appreciated.

                  Error

                  I have not seen this error either, but it may be worthwhile to:

                  1. uninstall PCM
                  2. Make sure all shoretel and shoreline registry entries are deleted from HKLM and HKCU
                  3. Create a new outlook profile
                  4. Reboot and reinstall PCM

                    I have the exact error message you posted, and found a VMailfrm.CFG file in C:\Program Files\Shoreline Communications\Shoreware Client and the following text under that header:
                    [Platform.NTx86]
                    CPU=ix86
                    OSVersion=WinNT3.5
                    file1=VMailFrm.dll
                    registry1=InprocServer32 = VMailFrm.dll
                    Which "o" is redundant, if any?

                    We've just shifted to Exchange2007, with Outlook 2007, from a Novell Groupwise (6.5) system, primarily to achieve a higher level of unified messaging - but so far, we are stuck at this error.
                    Shoretel is running 7.5, 12.13.1328

                      I have the same issue. Error message:
                      "An error has occurred while installing Shoreware Voicemail for Microsoft Outlook. Please make sure that Outlook is in the Corporate Workgroup Mode and has been configured. Also, please ensure that Outlook is the default client for mail on this machine."

                      While trying to install the Outlook Voicemail integration.

                      Version 7.5 12.15.3601.0
                      Vista Business 32 bit Fully updated
                      Outlook 2003 SP3 fully updated.

                      PCM is installed but I just cant get the Outlook integration to install. Under options/outlook tab. (or close to that)

                      I have checked the C:\Program Files\Shoreline Communications\Shoreware Client\VMailfrm.CFG
                      It looks good.

                      I have run C:\Program Files\Shoreline Communications\Shoreware Client\VistaTapiRepair.exe and rebooted.
                      It did nothing.

                      The outlook profile has been removed and recreated.
                      No help there.

                      Anyone out there have this issue still?

                      Thanks,
                      Chris

                        Below are the steps to correct the Call manager issue:

                        In some cases:
                        The issue is a typo in the VMailfrm.cfg file. To correct the issue Open File Manager and go to C:\Program Files\Shoreline Communications\ShoreWare Client, or the drive your PCM is installed in.
                        1) Open the following file with Notepad: VMailfrm.cfg
                        2) Look for the following:
                        [Platform.NTx86]
                        CPU=ix86
                        OSVersion=WinNT3.5
                        file1=VMailForm.dll
                        registry1=InprocServer32 = VMailForm.dll
                        2) Remove the o from the following lines
                        file1=VMailForm.dll
                        registry1=InprocServer32 = VMailForm.dll
                        3) It should now look like this
                        CPU=ix86
                        OSVersion=WinNT3.5
                        file1=VMailFrm.dll
                        registry1=InprocServer32 = VMailFrm.dll
                        4) Restart your PC and then run the Outlook Integration

                        If that did not correct the issue, try the below steps:

                        1. Quit all open programs
                        2. Rename the Mapi32.dll file in C:\Windows\System32 to Mapi32.old.
                        3. Locate the Fixmapi.exe file in C:\Windows\System, and then double-click Fixmapi.exe to run the program.
                        4. Restart your computer.
                        5. Attempt install of Outlook Integration

                            Outlook Forms cache - clearing can help

                            Hello -
                            Just saw this post and thought I might provide some insight into Outlook forms. I have worked with other voicemail and program clients that installed Outlook custom forms. On many occasions, the PC help technicians would deinstall the client program and reinstall the client program yet still encounter problems. Here is something you can try in the future:
                            - Deinstall PCM
                            - Clear forms cache. Microsoft recommends that you use the Clear Cache method. To do this, follow these steps (Outlook 2003):
                            1. On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Other tab.
                            2. Click Advanced Options.
                            3. In the Advanced Options box, click Custom Forms.
                            4. In the Custom Forms box, click Manage Forms.
                            5. In the Forms Manager box, click Clear Cache.
                            - Reinstall PCM
                            There is a different method I have used that also works. You can shutdown Outlook and delete two files or rename them if you feel safer doing this (extend.dat and frmcache.dat). These are system files stored in the user's profile so you will need to enable search for hidden files. Outlook rebuilds both files at startup if not found. Hope this helps!
                            Sincerely, Ginger
