  • NEC PBX to Shoretel Tie Line

I have a a Legacy PBX that I want to use a PRI tie line to connect to a shoretel T1 and dial through the shoretel trunk from the legacy PBX phones.

Example: Legacy PBX ---> Shoretel ---> CO

I just want to dial outbound. I dont care about incoming. I have old Shoretel Director 5.2, I dont want to upgrade (No $$$$)

Is it possible to do this? The shoretel guides just talk about making a tie line with legacy PBX systems and dialing through their trunks. I want it the other way around. I want my legacy PBX to dial through Shoretel connected trunks.

    Thanks

This is possible you need your legacy system to grab a line from the tie line and prepend a 9 to the digit string

That would work, but I think there is an option in the Inbound section of the ShoreTel tie trunk that let you put the 9 infront of the incoming digits. Then it would dial out on the other trunks. Tandem trunking, etc must be enabled. 5.2 is a long time ago so I'm not sure if this field was there then.

My shoretel T1 isn't seeing my dial request. The TI PRI is on and active. The D-Channel shows all good.

I think My setting on the Shoretel is wrong. How are you supposed to configure director to see my PRI Tie and let my legacy pbx grab a line?

can you dial to the NEC from the ShoreTel? If you configure off system extensions on the tie line trunk group then you should be able to dial through. How did you set up the tie? QSIG?

If the call isn't coming in on the ShoreTel trunk then it's probably because the NEC isn't sending it. Can the NEC dial if it is connected directly to the telco T1?

Qsig in the 2000 requires A particular Circuit Card. What type of circuits are you using in the 2000 is it a 2 card set 24DTA and SC01 or is it a single circuit 24PRT or DTA.

Also the 2000 can not act as the network side you will see some commands the say diffrent but they are for wireless so let shortel do the network side they do it well. last make sure you have set up your BCH with index's in 3007 it goes 3007 DE "Trunk Number DE "Index" EXE so here is a sample 3007>100>000.

the issue may be your voice channel are not setup properly so you can not grab one for voice.

A good source to verify your NEC side programming with is 2000stuff.com you will find helpful cheat sheets there.

            Hope this helps.

We have just switched out our legacy system to an Asterisk PBX. We cant use sip trunks because we are on Shoretel 5.2.

We tested the Asterisk on the shoretel with a PRI tie line, with the shoretel being the Network/master side. But I'm getting the same result, can't grab a line.

Do any of you guys have experience doing a Asterisk with a Shoretel PRI Tie??

We change the NEC to Asterisk PBX

I cant test the PRI from the Asterisk PBX since we dont have a Telco PRI available. Our trunks from the telco are analog connected to 2 SG 60/12 Switches (16 POTS Lines).

I have never done a pri to a Asterisk but i have done SIP trunks to one however like you stated your shoretel release wont allow for this. The NEC to ShoreTel should have been fine i have done this several times now. you should always test with TIE lines first to ensure all the basics work when possible that is. I know this sounds silly but are you placing your trunk groups on the proper switch in Director. I had a situation once that the switch was assigned with the proper framing and DCH protocol but the tech had not assigned the trunk group to the trunk channels in the director it showed all channels idle and framing and protocols up. but obviously they could'nt dial out.
