  • Adding a switch

We installed a 60/12 (ShoreTel 7) for a nonprofit. They needed to add a couple of POTS lines to cover a fund raiser. We added a 40/8 and it worked when we left, on both lines.

It stopped. We can see the switch on the network. Any ideas?

Hate to call TAC because they sent out this thing last week about losing your birthright if you call more than once a quarter or some nonsense. (Haven't figured why we must pay for the support but can't use it if and when needed.)

    Thanks!

Are the lines down or is the switch? What happens when calling these lines?

The lines are there. They ring to the butt set. Connected to the switch nothing. Moved a know to be working line to that switch and zip.

Just wondering if we forgot something we never knew (didn't get presented in training.)

Hate to ask, but you do know the wiring pinout on a 8 is different.....right?

That is defintely a good first step... if the pinout is correct...

Have you run a debug on the switch yet to determine if it sees anything when you call the POTS lines?

Did you remove the two trunks in Shoretel and re-add them to that switch?

What error does it show in the Trunk Test Tool?

Thanks to all. It was the pin out. Now we have another larger problem: The operator PC crashed and they purchased a new Gateway with Vista (didn't bother to consult with us!) Operator Call Manager will not load on this. It was shipped at ShoreTel 7. (Funny thing we can't seem to get them to give an upgrade to a customer to 7.) Any wisdom on this?

ShoreTel will only ship version 7 with new orders. What build of version 7 are you loading on the Gateway.

You will need the following builds in order for Vista to work on the call manager side.

              12.5.2836 Controlled Release (Vista/Outlook 2007 Compliant)
              12.5.7203 Controlled Release (Vista/Outlook 2007 Compliant)
              12.5.8103 Controlled Release (Vista/Outlook 2007 Compliant)

We are currently running 12.5.7203, which is a very stable build as far as we can tell. 12.5.8103 is the latest build and seems to have a lot of issues, such as MOH not working/voicemail service crashing, not good.

                8103 kinda scares me....
