  • Block Incoming calls???

I think this was asked before, and I believe the answer was no...but I'll ask again.

Is there a way for the Shoretel system to block incoming calls based on Caller ID? Some marketing company is bothering one of my customers, and there PRI does not have a call blocking feature.

Yes, the Shoretel SDK has a sample application called Junk Fax Screener that does exactly this. It is a COM application that runs on the server. Although it was meant to block junk faxes but works for your intended purpose.

There is also a sample application that runs on the client level and allows you to manipulate calls based on the CID.

The SDK is made available when you purchase access to the Shoretel Developer Network.

Has this been changed since the previous post? Is there a way to block calls based on caller ID without having hte SDK? Perhaps, is there some way to route calls based on caller ID, and route those calls politely away from the intended recipient?

I do not believe is has been added to core functionality. I believe Professional Services sells a tool that does this, and so do we.

I think V9 will have some new Call Handling mode functions. I havn't laid eyes on it yet so it might not do what you want. Essentially it gives you a feature a bit like Outlook rules but instead of emails it handles telephone calls.

In the UK we have legislation that can help with nuisence calls. You register your numbers with Telephone Preference Service. TPS Registration
It is a legal requirement that marketing companies do not call you without your consent.
