  • shoretel integration.

    hi
    has anyone ever integrated a shoretel system with another sytem
    E.g- Shoretel -> panasonic

    in our office we have a panasonic we want to integrate it with the shoretel system so we can do testing and train other tech too.

    i just wanted to know is it possible if so what problems did you run into?

    What sort of integration are you looking for?
    A TIE line? So you can transfer calls back and forth?
    Are you looking to setup the ShoreTel as a lab system and get out to the outside world through the Panasonic? Or maybe the other way around?

    Normally I see people integrate using either a T1, or analog trunks / extensions.
    ShoreTel works great in either of these situations so long as you are using "vanilla" methods.
    As far as problems..
    If you choose to use the T1 method:
    Use a crossover T1 cable.. I have seen telco provider techs miss that one..
    Standardize on a protocol, and remember to setup one system as master and the other as slave.
    Off System Extensions live on the trunk group you want them to go OUT, not where they come in.

    Have fun, and don't be afraid to ask questions.. It's good for the community.

      What type of switch is the panasonic, DBS? Does the panasonic handle PRI or T1? What are you looking for, dialing extensions across systems?

        I have tried twice, to integrate via analog, the first time, it was an old panasonic, and the panasonicīs analog extension wouldīt work in a shoretel trunk port. the trunk would just go out of service as soon as we tried using it.

        The second time, the line would work for the first time after the switch is benn rebooted. after that, it cant complete the call.
