  • 50V Switch Setup

I have a new 50V switch that I need to configure for static IP. After it powers up, when I connect to the "MAINT" port to set the information, all I get is a "Default login:" prompt and not the configuration menu like I thought I was supposed to get. It has never been connected to a network, just taken out of the box, powered up and connect to the MAINT port. What did I do wrong or what do I need to do to get the configuration menu? I notice that the Power LED, which is blue, remains steady but flashes 3 times occasionally (indicating FTP boot), yet when I watch it boot from the MAINT console it indicates it's booting from flash.

I'm trying to set these parameters before I take the unit out to the customer and connect to their network.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Do you have the Maint Port connected when booting?
What are you seeing in the Terminal Screen?

If you are at a prompt and it is asking for a user login try anonymous with pw of ShoreTel (Cap S Cap T)

I was able to login as "root" with password "ShoreTel" and I was at a standard unix/linux privileged shell command interface (#). From there I had no idea what to do. Do I try to set the IP address information manually through linux? I'll try the other logins and see if it is any different.

        Thanks

OK, that is normal, there are a few things you can try

try cliStart from that menu, if this does not work, then I assume the SG is not configured to boot properly to the OS menu. You will need to establish the setenv parems

try printenv and see if that prints out on the screen the current paremitors

It's a V model switch, enter stcli from the `nix prompt.
