  • Error Migrating servers

installing 7.5 on new hardware and keeping existing version. everything goes fine except when installing i am getting

"Don't know how to upgrade your Shoreware.mdb(version595) to version 5.87"

then i get a fatal exception error.

could this be because i am installing from original DVD on new server and there has been a build upgrade on old server..

is there a workaround? if i upgrade to 8 will that remedy it?

You wont be able to go to 8 until you get to 7.5 . You say that you are install on a brand new physical server, but you get an upgrade error... not sure how that is happening. However, I did the same thing only a few weeks ago, these are the steps I used:

1)Remove currnent physical server from the network.
2)Put new physical server on the network with the same NetBios name and IP address as old server.
3)Install Shoretel Director Server software on new physical server.
4)Copy old Shoreline Data folder (minus log folder) to D: on new physical server.
5)Reinstall DVM software on all DVM's.

Everything worked fine after doing that. If you have any questions just let me know.

oh you installed the software and THEN copied the shoreline data folder? The doc i was using said to copy shoreline data folder and then install software..so i should install the software and then replace the default shoreline data folder with the old one?

I do find that some of the Shoretel Documents havent been proof-read very well.

Yes the order I show it there is the EXACT order to do it in. First install the server then copy over the Shoreline Data folder over.

I wouldn't upgrade to ST8, to many issues and actually ST8 isn't coming out in general release. If you want to upgrade move to 8.1, much more stable.
