Were using IP560 phones and wanting to upgrade to 8.0. Shoretel says that there's a delay on these phones when on 8.0 in the release notes. Has anybody experienced this yet? Is that the only bug when using these phones?

The caveat Shoretel does not mention about the release notes is the bugs reported in them may or may no be effecting multiple customers. This may be a single instance with some funky network established. Or they may be letting you know to CTA (COver there Arse) its normal for any bug when unidentified be listed like this.
I would not worry about it, Call TAC for more info, it could also be related to certain build dats of the 560, Call TAC

Delay
It affects my system. I found and reported the original bug (at great expense to our company).
The patch to fix has been released on 7.5 and is in final testing for 8. I was told (i have been told this many times before however) that it is in final testing and will be available for 8 in the end of August release of code.
It is noticeable, but manageable. We were able to reproduce it in test labs with about 5 different sets of equipment (and at multiple customers sites).
It may be worthwhile to wait a few days and see if the patch really comes out. I can let you know. We have been waiting for it since December of last year.
The way the bug shows up is:
1. Your person will answer the phone and say "This is Steve"
2. The other end will only here "eve"
3. There is an awkward silence while the other end waits for you to say hello
4. they say hello
5. you say hello
etc
I have asked around a few places and when users are given that scenario, many realize they have had the problem for a long time. They mark it up to people calling in on cell phones/bad connections. Once they know about the problem, they notice it every time it happens (doesn't happen every time) and will hound the hell out of you.
And the problem is not limited to 560 phones. We were able to reproduce on 110's.Last edited by eazeaz; 08-29-2008, 04:19 PM.

This was not a reported issue wide spread by anyone, I had been in TAC for 3 years, this issue was not prevalent in releases from 5 to 8 while I was there.
I am no fan of Shoretels QA process, but I can unequivocally say this was not in earlier releases of 7 and below. If it was discovered in 7.x, you can call TAC, ask what release it was discovered in and what release it was tested and fixed in.
TAC will give you the latest info it has on that Bug, TAC with out a doubt should be your main source of information, not mine or anyone but TAC
As for the 110 issue, I do not doubt that at all, that phone is not worth spit

Bug
According to shoretel (this is directly from TAC), the problem affects every version from 7.5 on up.
They believe the bug existed in every worldwide install, just that some people were more sensitive to the side affects (noticed) than others.
We had the problem for 3 months before we even realized it was a problem.
I reported the bug last december..... it took them 6+ months to fix in 7.5
I am still waiting for the fix for 8.
I agree that it is really fishy that many people have not reported this. I found the "feature/bug" at every site (limited) i went and tested at. Once you know what you are looking for, it is easy to find.

Not doubting you, just saying it is always best to get it straight for the horses mouth. Always contact TAC for first line defense or your partner, information here from anyone can be misleading, inaccurate or worse case harmful to your system

We haven't experienced any issues on 7.5, but are experiencing issues with 560's and the eth ports not matching speed/duplex on st8, the phones say no ethernet if they are set to 100 full, but if you set the phone ports to auto they work fine. Also have had issues with delay and breaking up. Nothing changed on our network from 7.5 to 8 and now we are having these issues only with 560's.
two cents
