  • Error 1720 in PCM Upgrade/Install

One of our users is having trouble to upgrade to the PCM Build 13.9.3506.0. It ended up with the error message shown in the attached file.

We have tried to uninstall the old PCM and reinstall the new one, but it ended up with the same error message.

The basic computer info: Windows XP Pro with SP2.

Any help on resolving this issue would be greatly appreciated.

How to reinstall Microsoft Distributed Transaction Coordinator on a computer that is running Windows XP

Reinstalling MDTC seems to have done the trick for me.

I had the same thing happen see below - this helped me. We had 8.1 - 13.24.5 running on winxp sp2.

          Problem:
When installing Call manager you get a 1720 error message 1/2 ways through the install.
          Installation aborts.

          Solution:
          Windows Installer is messed up.
Run windows installer clean up utility -msicuu2.exe

If the installation of the clean up utility fails do the following:
From the windows start button "Run"
          regsvr32 scrrun.dll
Now install the windows script 5.6 Reboot - and installed pcm

An error occurs while installing the Windows Installer Cleanup Utility

            What doesn't work

Upgrading form SP2 to SP3 does not fix it.
            Must reinstall the MDTC
