  • Soft phone/admin rights

Is it true that a user has to have admin rights on their laptop to get the soft phone to work if they are running 7.5? I know they didn't need admin rights in ST 7.

Let me revise my statement. The PCM was installed over group policy, which doesn't install the softphone piece, correct? So if I get the user rights and load the softphone, once it is loaded the user doesn't need the admin rights to use the softphone feature correct?

The softphone is already part of the PCM package no matter what. It is turned on in the Users Profile under General "Allow Use of Softphone" I think thats correct. With that said, the softphone will work as designed, depending?

What is depending? You said you have pushed this I assume via the MSI and Active Director or ? and everything else works. User can change CHM, Options, and so on in PCM, no red X in the lower right of PCM.

Now the user "Techincally" does not have to have admin rights, but has to be granted launch permissions to run any program. The PC does have to have Admin rights to install the product, not run it Fully. Not a user with admin rights or a domain admin, but local admin for that PC. Many times I was told yes the user has all the rights. Yet PCM, Softphone would not launch. Uninstallng the product and having the product installed completely as LOCAL ADMIN worked everytime.

You can view the rights or at lease compare with a user that is working, but doing a "gpresult" from the command line of the troubled machine.

I hope this answered your question, are you having issues with Softphone or was it a general question
