  • Private Number

    Morning All.

At the moment we have our number as displayed when calling externally. Is there a way on the shortell system to have the number as withheld\private?

Some users want their number displayed and some want it withheld, so if I could do it at user level that would be great.

    Any help much appreciated.

    Kind Regards

    Glen

Under the 'mailbox on server:' section on the user form there is an option to make number private. Note I think that takes them out of the directory as well though.

      Thanks for your reply.

I tried that but it just removes them from the directory. The number still goes out when they make calls.

There must be an additional setting somewhere, because I just successfully retested this. Once I check the box to make my number private external calls show 'unavailable' for the CID and internal calls show my name but no number. As soon as I uncheck the box my caller ID is sent external as well as internally.

        Sorry thought I could help.

          Caller ID

Are you using a T1 PRI?

Is each persons DID showing up on outbound caller ID or just the main billing number?

there are ways to manipulate this via "make number private", via Class of service, and my favorite...Just change the Caller ID field in the individual users profile to what ever you want.

You can also block caller ID for the whole trunk group. This will give a "caller ID Blocked" message.

                    Did

Just change the caller ID to be all zero's or all 1's and send that.

We have changed our caller id the be 911 before to make prank calls to co-workers who thought they set off a monitored alarm.......
