  • One Voicemail box shared among many people

I'd like to find a way to create a shared Voicemail box that a group of users could access as well as their own VM box. I know that this could be accomplished with workgroups but I don't need anything else that's part of the workgroup functionality and would rather not be forced to purchase wourgroup agent licenses just for the shared mailbox. Does anyone know of a way to get only the shared mailbox without using a workgroup?

    Thank you
    Paul

There are multiple ways to accomplish that, are the users in a hunt group and you just need a VM box for the group or you looking for a general box. You have route pionts that have mailboxes or you could create a mailbox (general) and give the users the password. You can use the general box anywhere you use an extension, you can point huntgroups to it, auto att, extension modes, route piont, just a ton of options for a mail box.

I left out one rather important part. It needs to be as easy as possible for the people with access to the "group" mailbox. This essentially means that they should be able to open their voicemail application from the call manager and see this other mailbox along with their own. They should also be able to do anything with the messages there that they can do with messages in their own mailbox.

Create the group as a workgroup, force everybdy as "logged in". You don't need the Agent Call Manager to have WG's. The WG mailbox will appear in addition to the users mailbox in the ST Voice Mail viewer.

So, create a WG, log the users in, and bingo...done. No additional licensing required.

This isn't working for me (7.5 Build 12.14.4002.0). I have the workgroup, user is a member of the workgroup, user is logged into the WG, user can't see the WG mailbox with a either a personal or advanced call manager.

Unfortunately that doesn't show the workgroup maillbox, just my own.

I'm also not seeing a difference between the VM viewer launched from the withing the call manager and the one launched directly from the start menu but I'm using the one from the start menu as you suggest.

I'm not sure what issue you may be having, I have it working in 7.5 I'm sure.
                Maybe they are on 7.0.

thought you had it set to open outlook from Call Manager, which is why I reccomended you use the one from the start menu. If you aren;t using outlook, then no worries.

I stand corrected, you do need the Agent Call Manager for this feature. I guess I forgot I installed the option. My bad...sorry.

As soon as I put her back with advanced call manager, the WG mailbox disappeared.

There's no easy solution for this as far as application sharing. What you might want to try and see if this will work for you:

                    First create a Distribution list.
Select all the members you'd like to receive VM
Then go to the users Mailbox option
THen set Automatic Message forwarding and select the Distribution list number.

Everyone on this list should receive a copy of VMs left.
