  • Analog trunks dropping calls

We have a client that is having trouble with their analog trunks dropping calls anywhere between 30 & 60 seconds in to the call. This happens with inbound and outbound calls. I've looked at the physical connections and everything looks good.. When making a call using the trunk test tool it all looks normal except that it just drops the call. They are on ShoreTel 7 and the problem is happening using a SG 120/24. They have a SG T1 as well and all the PRI trunks work fine, it's just the 2 backup analog lines that drop calls.

    Anybody have any ideas?

    Thanks,
    Jack Smith

They don't happen to have any of the new half width switches do they?

Nope, both switches are the full width units. The volume of the analog lines seems to be pretty low, could it be the rx gain on the analog trunks?

you wouldn't think so. If the trunk Test tool drops it, something else is up. Is it all Analog lines? Did you verify Loop Start, etc? Have Shoretel TAC record the call from the switch and evaluate it. This will probably show something wierd going on.

There is a known issue with the full width (fuji) switches where they disconnect. What build are you running?

It does make a horrible noise whenever the call is dropped, sounds like someone slamming a phone down. They only have 2 analog lines and both of them do it. I hadn't thought of the possibility of these not being loop start trunks, I'll check in to that today.

Not sure on the build, I'll be out there again today working on some other stuff so I'll look at it and let you know.

              Thanks,

It turned out to be a problem with the lines themselves.. Not sure if they are ground-start or not but I hooked up my test set directly up to the line and it still dropped the call... Thanks for the suggestions!
