Problem using Maintenance Port

Maybe I can get some help here. My vendor hasn't been able to figure this out yet. I am trying to set up some new 40/8 switches, using the maint port on the front. I have set my hyperterminal session to 19200 - 8 - None - 1, with no flow control. I can see the switch booting, and it gets to the menu, but when I try to select any option 1-4, nothing happens. I have tried different cables, different keyboard and am at my wits end. Anyone have any ideas. They would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Are you sure that the cable your using is straight through? It will not work if it is not

I have had the same problem recently. Hmmmm. I thought it was just me.

Voipman, Im sure the cable Im using is straight through as I have used the same cable to configure shoretel switches before. Its just this new batch of switches we have purchased that I seem to have the problem.

I wonder if it's the switches or the firmware.

Usually it is the laptop.... I've had this problem and had someone else use their laptop with the same cable and it works.

cburgy I will have to try that, sometimes its the simple things I forget to try. I will let you know the outcome. Thanks
