  • Voicemail Notification

Hey guys, new to the board. Looks like lots of good stuff here. The question I have is this. Is there anyway around loading MCM to play the shoretel voicemails on a blackberry, blackjack, ect. I know I can send a copy of the voicemail as a .wav file, but then the user gets two copies of each voicemail. Just wondering if anybody had found a way to send it the first time as an attached wav file, short of uninstalling the outlook intergration.

    Thanks in advance.

I've never tried it, but can you uninstall outlook integration within the Call manager client? I think we discussed this before, but I don't remember the resolution.

There are two other options you can play with. There has to be an account in the Outlook/MAPI setup called "Shoretel Voice Mail" or something to that effect, if that's not there Outlook doesn't know to check the notifications in the first place.

You could also play with unchecking the option in the user's preferences within Call Manager ... unchecking 'Use Outlook as my default VM client' causes the user to see Shoretel's own voice mail 'inbox' instead of sending them to Outlook.

It sounds to me like Charles has the right idea; remove the integration, email the WAV and train the user to occasionally delete emails from the VM server. If that doesn't fit your needs, perhaps playing around with my two suggestions may help.

BTW, I have MCM loaded on my BB. I love it.

If I uncheck the "Use Outlook as defaul VM client" do I lose other intergration oprions? Such as contact import into call manager?

I'm trying to do this too

We just repalced our Nortel system with ShoreTel and are trying to do thje same thing - use the ShoreTel native voice message & not have to send the email with WAV file so Blackberry users can get these. It's essential for us that deleting from inbox also deletes from voicemail. Otherwise the VM indicator light is always lit on the users phone. Did you get anywhere with this?

            thanks
            Charlie

Unfortunately no. I contacted TAC and was told this is just the way it is.

Why do you get two copies? One for Outlook integration, one for the WAV file? That seems a serious weakness.

Too bad. Did you ever look into MCM as a solution? I think we're going to at least take a look but am concerned it will be cost prohibitive. We have 45 Blackberry users so I'm sure the cost of the licenses alone will be something we'll have to consider

No we didn't. That particular customer had phones that did not support MCM at the time. They just learned to deal with it.
