  • SMTP in Shoretel

I have recently received a lot of the below event message. And noticed that my vm notification via email is not working for any of my users

"Message delivery to the host '169.254.x.x' failed while delivering to the remote domain 'mydomainname.com' for the following reason: The remote server did not respond to a connection attempt."

This is a list of what have done to troubleshoot this issue:
-SMTP is working I can telnet my exchange sever port 25 from shoretel server
-Restarted SMTP Services (shoretel and server)
    -Restart the server

The only thing I can think is that I need to check smtp setup (check my domain name)in shoretel to make sure that everything is correct. I went thru all my Shoreware Director option and there are not smtp configuration.

Can someone please show me the right path?

    thanks

Did you setup SMTP forwarding thru the SMTP connector on the Shoretel server ?(This is a windows thing, not Shoretel)

Thanks but everything looks good on that part.
I believe I need to check the setting of smtp in the shoretel config?

No, you need to setup smarthosting on the IIS SMTP server. It should smart host to your email server. If you need help setting that up, let me know. I can explain it or dig up the shoretel app note on it.

          Time off

Make sure your time is in sync accross the different servers involved
