  • External Phone Calls

    I installed my first switch at a site that wasn't within the same zip code as my other switches or server for the first time.

    When the end user tries to call externally to a local number, it goes straight to off hook and a some sort of busy tone pulse.

    I added a couple prefixes to try resolving this but wasn't the case.

    What is going on here?

    Is the user in a group that is allowed access to the lines? Are the outbound lines on a PRI that requires you to present ANI? I assume you mean Area code not zip code. Does the remote switch have its own dial tone and a site definition?
    Sorry more questions than answers but it is rather a nebulous description
