  • Hide extensions from Directory

Is there a way to make an extension so it will not show while browsing the Directory list? We have a test Auto-Attendant and our Main Line that are showing up and a few others. Some are Auto-Attendants some are Menus.

    Thanks in advance

Depends on what directory list you are referring to. If it is the directory that the phones and PCM uses, the make number private option on users/auto-attendants/hunts/etc will hide it from the list. Note that this will also not show the users extension when they call other people (but will show their name).

If it is from the dial by name directory on the AA, you can turn this off with the checkbox on the user profile or create an extension list and assign it to the dial by name on the AA for the users you want to show up.

      Hide Extension

Does unchecking the option "Include in System Dial By Name Directory" not do what you are wanting?

I think I may be missing something.

Marking it "Private" will only blank out the outbound caller ID (I think)

No, that just removes them from the dial by name directory (in auto attendants). It doesn't remove them from the directory list on the phones and pcm. Make number private does and also blocks outbound caller id (shows name only on internal calls - not the extension).

          Extensions

          What version are you on?

I am on 7.5 now As soon as I uncheck the "Show in dial by name" box, the number is gone from the directory on the phones.....

I just verified that Unchecking this box instantly removed the number from the directory on the phones.

It does not appear to remove it from the directory in the PCM though...

I did not check the "Make number private"

It is very strange that it removes it from the phone but not the PCM.......
Can you see if this also happens at your site? Just wondering if this is a bug in the version we are on, or "by design"
