  • problem number

Anyone seen what may cause this? I have a particulat phone number that is a known working local number. The area code and exchange are in my local prefix list. When I dial it I get a message saying that the number you dialed is not a working number please check the number and dial again. I can dial it just fine from my cell phone. ?????????????

I've got the same problem with an installation in Corpus Christi. Byran Lynch (Shoretel Engineer) has been working on the problem. He had made a change to the custom prefix list that only the engineers have access to. Give him a call at 408-331-3506 he should be able to explain the solution.

      Local Number

I have had several of these too. Mine required a call to the local phone company. The numbers we had problems with were not loaded as local on thier end. They updated their systems for each prefix and the problem was gone.

Some numbers need a 1 in front of it, some need the area code, and some just need a prefix. Make sure your dialing plan is correct. After that, I would check with the phone company. If that does not help, you may need to call ShoreTel.
