  • Error Message Installing Call Manager

When installing Call Manager on a VISTA machine with SP2, 3/4 of the way when installing files the install fails with a scripting error, the error reported is:
Error 1720. There is a problem with this Windows Installer package. A script required for this install to complete could not be run. Contact your support personnel or package vendor. Custom action RemoveComplusSoftPhone script error -2146827859...

I've had suggestions about re-install the MS installer package, but with SP2 already installed this cannot be done. Also had the suggestion to register the vbscript.dll, tried this still get same error. Looking for any other advice or suggestions if you have run into this or heard anything about this. Last suggestion from MS was to reinstall the OS (trying not to have to do this). Any help would be greatly appreciated. We've installed this on several hundred machines without any issues except for one and of course it had to be the President's machine, so you can see my urgency to try to resolve the problem.

There is a knowledge base doc on the shoretel site (KB12088?) that walks you through this fix.
I did it and it works.
