  • MySQL Random Shutdown

Periodically, MySQL is shutting down. I find this because we get an error in our reporting and then I know to restart MySQL. Any suggestions on the cause or how to troubleshoot this issue?

Are you running any backup scripts?

Do you have third party backup software running on the machine that would be backing up the MySQL data directory? If so, exclude that directory.

We do have what sounds like a general back up script for that server. (??) It sounds like that is a possible issue. Correct? (sidenote - I am not an IT guy, just trying to get IT pointed in the right direction to find a solution) Thank you all!

Yes. Without further details on the script and what program is actually being used to back up your ShoreWare server, I can't say with certainty. However, backing up the MySQL Data directory will cause the MySQL service to crash, unless some sort of open file agent is used. To be safe, my recommendation for you would to be to suggest to the IT department that they use a utility built for MySQL to back up the databases separately from the file backups already being performed on the server. Search the ShoreTel knowledge base for "backup" and you'll find all the information you need.
