  • cant hear one side of call

We have several users at different site stating they call using 10 digit dialing and the person at the other end can not hear them. We are on Build 12.6.2301.0, users are on MPLS with QOS set and the problem is intermittent. This is happening when calling on the system or off to a cell or landline. Network stats look fine. Has anyone else experienced this issue?

So this occurs on both internal and external calls?

Internal in the same site or between sites? Where is dial-tone coming from (same site or another site) and what type is it (POTS, PRI, SIP Trunks, etc.)?

site to site, site to outside cell phone. PRI. First noticed at our offices in Canada but we might also have an issue from home office to texas office. Dial tone coming from same site. If our office in site A calls siteB, one can not hear the other. If they hang up and call again it is fine.

check you db levels on your PRI? I have had to change a few from 0/0 to 3 for transmit/4 for receive.

What is the network topology at the site?

What routers/firewalls are you using between locations?

Ok, if you aint know and if aint nobody told you yet. You need to download wireshark and run a trace on your network. Not running wireshark in a scenario like this is uncivilized.

Wireshark? Why? It is MPLS site with cisco gear. Oddly enough one of our VPN sites is now having issues. We have had to change the db levels one our switches in Alaska because people could barely hear but this is different. The problem is intermittent and an issue of no sound on one side and sometimes it is just fine.

Wireshark allows you to watch packets from source to destination. Enough said.
