Configuring SG24A Switch

Anyone know the trick to stop the switch from looping through the boot sequence when trying to console into a switch to preconfigure it? When I power up the box it starts and goes through the boot process. When I get to the config menus I enter 3 and then 1 to configure the IP but as soon as I start typing in the IP address it starts the boot process all over again. This is getting frustrating !!!

Plug it into a network that has DHCP enabled. It should grab an address then stop bouncing.
