  • Wierd one-way communications

I added a tunnel between to locations. If I intercom the remote site we can talk to each other. Any call that come from the outside the person can hear them but they can't hear the person. It doesn't matter whether it's straigth to there DID or hitting there ext from the automatic attendant. I've checked that the gateway is the same on all devices. Have anyone ran into this before? Any ideal on what the problem may be. Thanks in advance

Someone else mentioned this, I beleive it's a routing issue.

Agreed, -check routing configuration. In our case it was not a LAN routing issue, but the phones themselves at one site had no gateway configured.

This happened on our new installation this week. It was actually related to a DHCP issue where phones at one site had an expired DHCP lease. The phones could not contact the DHCP server and thus were using the cached lease. The cached lease did not include a default gateway. The phones could communicate with the ShoreTel server, switch and other phones in the same subnet, but could had no path to the second site. We had to reset each phone after reconfiguring the IP helper on the router. When we would intercom site to site, the phones with no gateway at Site A could not be heard at Site B, but Site B phones could be heard at Site A.

      Good luck!
