  • CallerID on POTS

We mainly deal with PRI's, but we do have 1 location with some POTS lines. There's 1 main number, and the others are setup in a rollover hunt group on AT&T's side.

I didn't think the 'end user' could manipulate the out pulsed CID on POTS lines,
so I've asked AT&T if they could staticly set CID on the roll over lines to be the same as the main number. They told me they couldn't do it, but said we should be able to control it with our phone equipment.

Even though I have all the user's at that site set have their callerid as the main number, when calls are made out the other POTS lines, it displays the number of that line as the callerid.

Going through the site, switch, and trunkgroup settings for that location, I don't see anything else that would effect callerid (besides the 911 CESID, which is also set as the main number).

Can Shoretel manipulate CallerID on POTS lines?

No it cannot. To my knowledge, there is not even a standard protocol for doing so.

      AT&T Terminal Group

You may be able to get AT&T to setup a Terminal Group. Here's a link that might help you.

Every phone company I have dealt with is able to send the main BTN out no matter which trunk you dial from, it's not a function of the phone system it is done on the telco side you just have to ask.

I could have sworn I've previously requested AT&T to setup CID on huntgroup roll over lines before, but maybe it was another carrier, because AT&T wouldn't do it this time.

They did mention terminal groups, which is what we will be converting those POTS lines to.
