  • Running out of PRI Trunks

    Guys,

I have a T-1 PRI on my shoretel system. It has 23 lines. Occaisonally, all 23 lines are in use, and the last guy gets a reorder tone when he tries to make a call. he then curses me!

Is trunk usage logged in the database somewhere? is there a table that shows number of trunks lines in use at a time?

You have several different ways to look at your Trunks:
1 - Under 'Quick Look', drill down to your T-1 Switch and look at the Channels.
2 - Check your Reports? You can run a Trunk Reports.
3 - For 'Real Time' viewing use the 'Trunk Test Tool'

    Just to name a few...

Yeah, the reports is what you want to look at. Either the detail or summary should give you channel useage.
I looks like you need to add more trunks. If it happens a couple of times a month then maybe just add 2 or 3 analog trunks for backup.

How many stations/users do you have sharing the 23 channels?

I have thought about this for a similar problem we have. If we add analog trunks, those would only work for calls going out, right? That is, incoming calls would not come in over those trunks, right?

I think It's possible, but you will have to check with your Telco to see if they can make incoming calls for certain DID's roll over to the Analog Trunks when the PRI is fully utilized.

As long as you don't give out the numbers of the analog lines then no one will call them. Just make sure you add the analog trunk group to the user group and you should be all set.
