  • Half-duplex outside calls

I've got a weird issue here that the Shortel TAC hasn't been able to resolve so far. I've got one small site, with a single Shoregear90 connected to 8 analog trunks. All 212k phones, only 1 or 2 of which use headsets.

Basically what happens is on external calls only, both parties can't talk at the same time. If I talk when the outside party is talking, their voice cuts out. They continue to hear me, though. This does *not* occur if I hook up to the 66 block that the shoregear switch connects to (which is only about 1 ft. from the wall rack).

We've tried changing codecs, I've increased/decreased the gain on the analog trunks put tx gain higher than rx and vice versa, none of that's helped. Shoretel originally stated it was a telco issue, so we had AT&T come out. They came onsite and tested all the way to our 66 block and things of course came back clean, and their test calls were all fine. I did bring both an IP110 and IP210 hooked it up to the system and they did the same thing. I've messed with sidetone just to see if it would help, but raising and lowering that didn't work. A record2file does indicate the calls cut out on the rx side.

I'm kinda at a loss here as to what else could be causing the issue. Anyone else run into anything like this?

Did AT&T check the line voltage at the D-marc? So what did SHoreTel say?

Something you didn't mention... Did you try outbound from the Shoretel on different trunks? Busy out or disconnect 7 of the trunks and try them one at a time from a Shoretel phone to see if it happens on all 8 trunks...
