  • Forward the number of an empty desk

    Situation:

Person moves to different job w/ different extension before a replacement comes. The original extension can not be left unattended.

The only way I can figure to keep the orig. ext and yet move the employee is to give the orig. ext to a route point and then forward that to a real person.

It seems a little of an admin headache since I will have to undo all of that when a new person is hired. Is there any other way to have an ext that is not attached to a user?

Why not create a new user for that extension called "???"

then in standard mode, forward to a real person.

Or create a DNIS entry (if this is just external calls) that points that DID to the new extension.

because if the real person doesn't answer, it reverts back to the voicemail of the bad extension.

I would point the old number to a Bridged Call Apperence. Then add it to what ever phones you want and have the the busy no answer to where ever you want.
