  • Increase the External Volume

Hi we are running shoretel version 6.1 (via ISDN30 no analogue ports) A lot of external customers have mentioned that they have trouble hearing us because the phone is quiet, but we can here them fine. Have looked at the tech note 0141 for modifying trunk gains and have opened the ports table and noted all the rxGains are set to -30 while the txGains are set to 30. What is the recommended setting for these? I am thinking of changing the RXGain to 47 but should this be +47 or -47.

Thank you for any assistance or recommendations for the setting level.

We are having a similar issue on 7.5, but it is only for 2 users. Most users report satisfactory performance.

Before I start making global changes in trunk gain, I, too, was wondering what the recommended settings should be.

(Or maybe there's a way to increase gain on the IP230's we use.)

On first build the trunks are set to 0 and 0 for the gains. A + value should increase the gain and a - value should decrease it (contrary to the way some traditional PBX's work). Also with a custom FTP file you can increase the transmit and receive gain for a given phones handset, speaker, or headset.

I have a few users who claim the volume is low, could you elaborate on the custom ftp file to increase the transmit and receive gain for the affected users...?
