  • Second Call Ring

Is there a way to setup a user to have a second call ring instead of just a call waiting beep? We have a finance receptionist that gets most of the calls but when she gets a second call the department would like to pick the call from her, but they can't hear it ring.

We just transitioned from a Nortel phone system and that is the one feature that we can't replicate yet.

    Thanks.

    Ring

I think you could set the PCM to ring on a second call. It would ring over the pc speakers.

    probably not the cleanest solution.

      Try a hunt group

Put her phone in a hunt group with the others you want to be able to answer. Set them to ring top down with her first. That way if she is on the phone it will ring to the next in line. Another alternative would be to use two hunt groups. Put the receptionist in one by herself, and set the no answer/busy destination to the second hunt group. This way, you could make the second group ring either top down or simultaneous.

        Group

We use a hunt group for our receptionist just like you described. Calls ring the hunt group (the receptionist) for 2 rings. If busy, or she doesnt answer, it rings another hunt group (a set of 4 other phones) simultaneous. Everyone has a pickup button in the lobby. When they hear the other phones ring they can hit the pickup button and take the call.

When I answered earlier, i misread your question. I thought you were wanting the person that was talking to the receptionist to actually hear a ring, so they would believe that she had another call coming in.

What about a monitor extension button on the other users phones so they can see when the main receptionist is on the phone, you can set a delay ring on this button so the other peoples phone will make a unique ring when reception doesn't answer after a ring or two.
