I am quite new to shortel and so far am impressed.

Can someone tell me how I send emails from director to an inbox. I have set the email address in the user page and checked DNS can see my exchange server but no emails come through. Is there any else you have to do?

I want to send a user the welcome email thats explains how to log on to the phone and for alerts to be emailed

Are you running a mail server locally?

No, it should usually not be in the domain.

Have you configured the SMTP service on the Shoretel server at all? You need to tell it to relay emails to your real mail server.

You do it through IIS Admin on the ShoreTel server, you also need to configure your real mail server to allow the ShoreTel server to relay messages through it.
