  • Antivirus on the Server

Are there any issues with installing a Symantec Endpoint 11 A/V client on the Shoretel server? Are there any exceptions that we need to add?

    Regards,

    Jeff

We have been using and selling Symantec for a few years. But lately we have been running into lots of issues with Symantec end point protection.
Just mentioning the name to my collegue made him say "Eugh" . His suggestion for exceptions is to use anything except Symantec.

We have been a symantec shop for a LONG time.

starting with Version 11, we are now a trend micro shop.

Can anyone elaborate on the issues? We are due to install SEP on our SW server very soon. What should I look out for?

Personally I wouldn't install any AV on the SW server. If you must do due to policies then you should know the following.

ShoreTel has not certified any AV. If you do install AV then make sure it is a server class product and you should not include the Shoreline Data folder in anu realtime scanns or scheduled scans. Also, if the AV product impedes performance and affects call you may have support issues.

I agree with you, symantec is not really good in comparison with these security software. You should really try something more professional.
