  • Ringtones / individual phones only.

Hi to anyone who can help (and if you can't),

I’m new to ShoreTel and new to this forum.

I would like to customize ringtones for individual phones, not create a pool for all to select from.

I’ve read thorough the threads and know this topic has been discussed at length, but I’m confused on the difference on how to change ringtones for individual phones only.

Can anyone supply me with that information?

I’m form the copper side of the house – you remember “tip/ring” and blue, orange, green, brown, slate. So things are coming a little slow…

    Thanks,
    Bernie

    No Problem.
To change rings globally you have to update a custom.txt file appropriate to the model of phone.
To change individual phones you make exactly the same changes to an individual customer file named: shore_aabbccddeeff.txt
replace "aabbccddeeff" with the serial number from the bottom of the phone you want to change.

      Thanks.
I apologize for the neophyte reply, but…where would I locate this file?

You have to create it yourself.
        Just make one using notepad.

...And they go in the following location:
          \Inetpub\ftproot

This is usually located on the C: drive of the headquarters server or on the DVM server if it is a remote site.
