We have several offices where we are running faxes through the ShoreTel system. Users often (still) forget to dial 9 to send their fax (previously on POTS). All of the users are set to redirect faxes to the site fax extension.
What happens is, though, when a user dials say, “5551212” on the fax machine, without dialing 9, it redirects and says “that extension is not valid”. It seems as though that announcement is redirecting to the site fax machine, and it is coming out of another machine in the office. The fax gets confirmed, our person thinks it went through, only to learn an hour later (hopefully) that it showed up on the other side of the building instead of the destination they had intended.
Anybody have a suggestion for a workaround to specify these fax machines’ calls should not be redirected to the site fax machine? Each fax line “user” is listed in Director as being “Connected to Fax Machine, Do Not Redirect…”
Thanks!
Aaron
