  • Shoretel230 configs

Please excuse my lack of knowledge, I'm a network tech that go handed a Shoretel system to manage.

I have most things figured out and I am able to handle most of the day to day tasks. We just received a dozen or so Shoretel230 IP phones, the files that it is trying to download during boot don't even exist on my server:

    shore_sev.txt, sev_ap_02_01_07.ebin, and sev_bb_02_01_07.ebin

Could some on point me in the right direction to get these files? My old IP100 phones work fine.

    Thank you,

    Darryl

You are probably on too old a version of ShoreTel. 6.1 is required for the IP230. What build are you on?

      Thanks for the reply.

So that is ShoreTel 5.2. You just can't make those IP230s work until you upgrade to at least ShoreTel 6.1.

          Whats involved with the upgrade?

You need to have an active support contract with Shoretel either via a partner or an enterprise contract. This will entitle you to access to the most current release of Shoretel.

At that point, you can upgrade from 5.2 to 6.1 and then 6.1 to 7.5 and then 7.5 to 8.1.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help. That is the only thing I don't like about Shoretel, I don't mind paying for software or support but I just hate to buy a support contract. Maybe the school system will see it differently and I'll get this sorted out.

              Thanks again,
              Darryl

This is pretty standard practice. In fast, Shoretel is much more reasonable about it.

With legacy systems, you had to pay for support and you would pay seperately for all major software upgrades.

Enterprise software is the same way. You pay for support and upgrades as part of the contract.

What should I expect to pay for a service contract, a ballpark number would be fine.

I really can't tell you. It depends on what Shoretel equipment you have. Contact your Shoretel Partner and they can generate a quote for you.

Instead of starting a new thread I thought I would bump this one. We did finally upgrade to ShoreTel 9.2 and all of my new phones work great now but my old IP 100 phones quit working. The are Shoreline IP 100 phones. I have all of the IP information set static on them but they can't find the server. Ideas?

Wow, you are getting the shaft all around. The IP100 dropped off the supported devices list after ShoreTel 8.1. That means that you are now in the same boat you were to start, only with a different set of phones. The IP100 just will not work with ShoreTel 9 or newer.

Your partner probably should have looked over your system and checked whether your equipment was compatible before doing the upgrade.

just to clarify, the IP100's phones are those old polycom phones? I think the ip500 phones?

The phone has Polycom Soundpoint IP on it, the model is listed as Shoreline IP 100.
