  • Paging Question

    Hi All -
We have a paging group setup to go to overhead paging and a few phones in remote places. As everyone knows, there is a delay prior to playing the message back. Is there a way to delay the playback until the extension is hung up, so that it will play once the page is completely recorded? (That way, there isn't the start of the message starting to play in the background half way through the message.)

    Thanks!

    Eric

We just installed a new ShoreTel 8.1 system last week and this is the only complaint my users have. Everyone has told me they do not like how the page starts broadcasting while they are still talking. We would like it to wait until the person is finished paging, but I don't see that this is possible.

I see no way to do this in the Shoretel system itself, but this could be fairly trivial to accomplish with a custom application.

ShoreTel has an Enhanced Paging Appilcation that can be obtained through their Professional Services.
For emergency situations they have a feature put the caller on hold and plays the page to the user.

Auto-answer calls as well as intercom calls to participants The current page system places intercom calls to stations but if the called party is on a call that call is not interrupted. Instead the call presents with a call waiting tone and a beep in the ear. For emergency notifications and other high priority messages this is unacceptable. This application provides paging groups which can instead use an auto answer call rather then an intercom call. This causes the current call to be put on hold and then the paging call is connected.
